Cambodia Casinos
December 6th, 2017 by Darion

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is against the law. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel building that highlights a number of luxuries on top of the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
